We are recruiting: Peer Researchers

AVA are recruiting Peer Researchers for a new trauma informed project!

Who is AVA?

AVA (Against Violence & Abuse) is a feminist charity committed to creating a world without gender-based violence and abuse. Our mission is to work with survivors to end gender-based violence by championing evidence-based change. Our core work includes training, policy, research and consultancy.

Role title: Lived Experience Trauma Informed Service Auditor

Main functions

  • To contribute to the design of the project and work with partners
  • To support the development of AVA’s holistic trauma informed model
  • To help produce tools for domestic and sexual abuse services how to respond in a trauma informed way
  • To help review other materials produced as part of the project and offer an expert voice and input.

What is Peer Research?

Peer research is conducted by people with lived experience of an issue that is being explored. Researchers receive training in research skills and work with professional researchers to use their experience to help shape the way research is carried out.

We are recruiting up to 20 women (aged 18 and above) to help shape AVA’s approach to trauma informed care.

What is the project?

AVA have received a grant from the Tampon Tax fund to work with a small steering group of expert partners and collaborators to design tools and resources to ensure a more standardised approach to trauma informed service provision in dedicated, specialist services. Working with partners, peer researchers and pilot organisations we will create a kite mark for women’s services which will help them demonstrate how their service is an effective and safe trauma-informed environment.
