Course description

Aims to provide delegates with information about coercive control as a form of abuse and the offence of coercive control created as part of the serious crime bill. The training aims to equip delegates to identify coercive control, understand the practical implications for victims and provide support and signposting to those who disclose.

Learning objectives

  • Understand the nature of coercive and controlling behaviour within an abusive context
  • Understand how to identify and support victims to recognise coercion and control
  • Recognise and understand the psycho-social impacts of coercive control for victims, including children
  • Understand the new legal definition of coercive control
  • Learn how to support victims of coercive control
  • Understand how the new coercive control law can be used.

The course is aimed at practitioners from the voluntary, statutory and private sectors, who work with clients where domestic abuse is an issue.
