Who is this for:

This webinar is aimed at commissioners and strategic leads as well as frontline services and women with lived experience who are based in Greater Manchester. It will focus on women’s experiences of sex work and survival sex, the gaps in support and solutions.

Please note this event is only for organisations and individuals that live and work in Greater Manchester: Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, Wigan and the cities of Manchester and Salford.

The webinar aims to gather evidence in order to develop concrete recommendations aimed at Greater Manchester decision makers so they can improve responses for women living with multiple disadvantage.

Background:

AVA and Agenda have been working across Greater Manchester to embed recommendations from  Breaking Down The Barriers, the National Commission on Domestic and Sexual Violence and Multiple Disadvantage.

During the Covid 19 lockdown it was highlighted across Greater Manchester that the pandemic was disproportionately affecting sex workers and those involved in survival sex. Bringing together frontline services, women with experience, commissioners and strategic leads, this event will offer an opportunity to better understand women’s experiences and to create solutions and recommendations going forward.

This event will feed into a briefing directed at frontline services, commissioners and decision makers, which AVA and Agenda will be disseminating to help improve practice as part of future responses to the crisis and rebuilding across Greater Manchester.

Speakers include:

Annie Emery, Chief Executive of Manchester Action on Street Health

Colette Cronshaw, Expert by Experience and Trustee of Manchester Action on Street Health

Hannah Courtney-Adamson, Housing Project Officer (Homelessness), Rochdale Borough Council

Rose Ssali, Programmes Lead, Support and Action for Women’s Network (SAWN)

Chair/Business Development Coordinator of Mama Health and Poverty Partnership (MHaPP)
