The WiSER Project is a partnership of specialist charities working to end male violence and abuse. The project works with women who are frequently excluded from mainstream services and/or find it hard to engage with support. The services provide outreach activity, trauma informed approach and flexible 1-1 and group support.

The WiSER Project works with women and girls over 16 living in Camden, Enfield, Haringey, Islington, Waltham Forest, Hackney, Barnet and Tower Hamlets who are experiencing violence or abuse and are affected by severe and multiple disadvantages. Please note only delegates working in these London Boroughs or across these Boroughs (i.e. pan London) will be approved to attend.

Course Description:

The need for services to be trauma-informed is increasingly well understood. But what does it actually mean in practice? This online training on becoming trauma-informed is for managers who are responsible for the design and delivery of frontline services.

By the end of the course, learners will:

  • Be able to describe what a trauma informed environment is and why adopting a trauma informed approach is appropriate in health and social care services.
  • Have a good understanding of how trauma affects people and how this affects staff.
  • Have increased knowledge about how to practically implement a trauma informed approach in their service(s).
  • Have practical, adaptable tools that will enable their organisation to improve policy and practice.
  • Have started to develop an action plan for their organisation to become trauma informed.
