Course Description
This course includes around three hours of learning. Our aim is to provide you with a basic awareness of how to ask about domestic abuse and respond to disclosures so that you are better prepared to support survivors in your own professional practice. More specifically, by the end of the course, you will:
- have increased knowledge of the indicators of domestic abuse
- have an understanding of how to ask about and respond to disclosures of domestic abuse
- be able to demonstrate and understand the reasons why it is difficult to leave an abusive relationship
- have a better knowledge of relevant support services.
Format:
This course is delivered online and involves independent learning and an interactive training session. A week before the session, you will receive an activity pack to work through in your own time and should take no longer than an hour to complete. The training session is tutor-led and will last for three hours with a 20-minute break. In our virtual classroom, you will explore some of the topics from the activity pack in more depth and cover new topics. The training session will involve tutor presentation, question and answer opportunities and group work activities.
