Course Description
Domestic and sexual violence, substance use and mental ill-health are three issues which often co-exist. And when they do, things can become complicated. This training is designed to ‘uncomplicate’ matters by raising awareness about how the three issues intersect and offer effective ways to engage with individuals and families who are affected by these issues.
This FREE training is offered as part of the ASCENT Project of the London VAWG Consortium, funded by London Councils. Delegates must be from voluntary sector organisations in London, working with service users at risk of domestic violence and abuse. The training is limited to 16 places, with no more than two delegates from each organisation. Delegates are selected to meet the needs of the funder with respect to geographic distribution and size of organisation.
Applications for this training closed on 24 October 2016 at midday. If you have applied, you will be contacted by 7 November to inform you if your application has been successful.
Learning Objectives
- Understand the links between experiences of domestic and sexual violence, mental ill-health and substance use
- Understand the difficulties survivors with complex needs face in making change
- Become familiar with ways to encourage survivors to engage with services and how to meet their needs
