AVA has recently been doing a lot of work around trauma informed approaches. We are calling on all services who work with women affected by violence and abuse to recognise the need to implement a trauma informed approach.
- Creating trauma informed services involves understanding, recognising and responding to the effects of trauma.
- It also emphasises the physical, psychological and emotional safety of survivors and practitioners, and helps survivors rebuild a sense of control and empowerment.
AVA and Agenda have recently published a literature review on core components of trauma informed models.
AVA has been working with Homeless Link to explore how gender and trauma informed models can support women experiencing homelessness
AVA is now offering a new course on creating trauma informed services which is aimed at managers and people involved in service development. Book early to avoid disappointment.
