As you know over the last year we have been co-developing a digital tool for survivors called Breathing Space. We now have an early working prototype and we want to get your views and feedback.
This tool has been co-produced and tested with survivors and we now want to consult organisations and professionals that work with survivors. This is important to us as this tool is intended to complement the virtual work you do.
We are running a virtual consultation event on 28th October 3-4pm, to give you an overview of the tool’s functions and how it was developed. If you like to attend please sign up here.
Breathing Space in its current form provides both practical and emotional support. The app is a simple tool which helps survivors navigate to appropriate support. It signposts to relevant services which provide trauma-informed ways of helping and to techniques which can assist with immediate trauma symptoms, such as acting out grounding techniques whilst experiencing flashbacks, unwanted memories or difficult emotions like panic. This app allows survivors to locate the right support at the right time and gain access to information that acknowledges and reflects what they have gone through, as designed by those who have lived it.
You can read a blog from one Expert by Experience who participated in our user-testing.
If you run or provide a frontline service we are also looking for organisations to participate in our beta-launch in November and December. The participating organisations will receive:
- Early access to the beta app which can be disseminated to your service users
- Support to promote the tool including social media packs and publicity materials
- Opportunities for your service users to contribute to the development of the app going forward through feedback sessions and user testing – they will be offered vouchers for their participation
- An invitation to a short feedback workshop and we’ll provide a £100 donation to cover your staff time.
